About the Authors

Blake Frino received a B.A. in English from San Francisco State University. Her focus in college was in creative writing, but her passion for writing started at the early age of 14 with songs and poetry. At that time, Blake also became a vegetarian and developed a strong commitment to protecting animal rights and the environment. She writes for magazines such as LA Splash, OC METRO, Irrigation & Green Industry and Soil Erosion on numerous topics from food reviews to health, fitness and environmental issues. Blake is also working on a children’s book which she hopes will influence children to embrace greener choices that affect the animals living on our planet.

Michelle Bexelius received her degree in Conceptual Design/Information Arts from San Francisco State University. She worked for nearly a decade as a creative architect, interface designer and usability engineer on behalf of high tech companies and then set out on her own to become a professional photographer and graphics designer. In 2006, she incorporated an eco-friendly printer into her design business which spawned a greater awareness of the environmental movement. A long advocate of conscious living - choosing local organic foods, natural therapies and eco-friendly products, dark green is Michelle’s favorite color. She continues to find and share with others new and innovative ways to promote a shift to living a more conscious, aware life but with a sense of style. Michelle is one of the co-founders of Green This Life. She currently resides in Santa Barbara, CA, with her husband and two children.

Liesl Bradner began her writing career at Florida State University and has over 15 years in the newspaper business working for The Los Angeles Times and The Orlando Sentinel. She is currently a freelance writer covering eco-friendly topics for Sun Community Newspapers which include the Studio City, Encino and Sherman Oaks, California neighborhoods where she is always discovering new ways to go green. She is also an actress and mother of two children. Liesl believes in the importance leaving this planet a better place for our children. She sets a good example for her kids by doing things such as recycling, taking fewer trips around town and taking shorter showers. A native of Pennsylvania, Liesl currently resides in Los Angeles.

Dr. Trevor Holly Cates received her medical degree from the National College of Natural Medicine and went on to study environmental medicine through SpiritMed at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine. The first woman licensed as a naturopathic doctor in California, Dr. Cates practices holistic medicine at the Santa Barbara Center for Natural Medicine with a specialty in women’s and children’s health. She lectures and writes articles on natural medicine for various local and national publications. Actively involved in promoting the naturopathic profession, she has twice been appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger to California’s Bureau of Naturopathic Medicine Advisory Council. Dr. Cates grew up on an organic farm in Virginia and continues to live a healthy lifestyle with her husband and three children. Dr. Cates is co-founder of Green This Life.
